About
Why this website?
I'm Alex Bowman, and have been dipping my toes into starting a few websites. What they are is 'top secret' so it's best not to ask! But they will be big and they will be soon.
So...
Extensive reading and subscribing to even more RSS feeds of some excellent news sites/blogs/forums ensued. It's a pain to keep track of sometimes, and a website makes a great way to file the little atoms of knowledge as they emerge. And hey, why not make what I've learnt available to all, and for everyone else, if they find something useful, to add something. There is no similar site around.
While there are some excellent technology news sites, and some blogs that are amazing, there is nothing in the Webosphere that brings all of the points, from latest innovation, to where to get the fastest server, to what law you may be breaking by doing something together for the perspective of a webmaster. Oh, and I will certainly add a splash of original content.
So...
I started this. A documentation of the main but varied issues involved in setting up a site are (gradually) documented in the China Webmaster Guide, like a collaborative book, somewhat like a Wiki. The front page is a splash of my own comments/nots and a more regular role of stories I've found interesting and tagged 'chinawebmasters' on del.icio.is.
Heck, there's no reason to limit this to me only... so anything tagged 'chinawebmasters' will show up on the front page and news section of the website, and anyone logged in can add stories/commentary. Unregistered visitors can post comments and use the forums.
This 'about' page is a bit open-ended. Any comments, then please email me
